About this globe
The Sun's entire surface, combining NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (watching nonstop since 2010) with the STEREO mission's far-side view. No single spacecraft can see a whole star at once — SDO only sees the face turned toward Earth, so STEREO fills in the hemisphere hidden on the far side.
A note for perfectionists: the Sun spins faster at its equator than at its poles, so any full-surface map is a mosaic stitched across roughly one 27-day rotation.
